Awesome Star Wars playset

I think I’m going to keep the desktop as is for now. pacalin was right and also playsets are the coolest. And I can’t overlook the fact there’s about $8,000 worth of vinyl-caped Jawas in the picture.

This is one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen. My mission is to find either the Woman’s Day it first appeared in or a copy of Woman’s Day Book of Best-Loved Toys & Dolls that devotes almost 30 pages to this mother of all playsets. More info here.
Great find retrostarwars.

This is Wolverine. This is not Popeye. He’s kind of dark. But, you know, this is a change of pace. Chris McQuarrie, who wrote The Usual Suspects, has written the script, so that’ll give you a good clue. [Aronofsky’s] going to make it fantastic. There’s going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.

Hugh Jackman re: Wolverine 2 via Vulture (via popculturebrain)

So this really is happening? As an Aussie, I obviously love Jackman. Aronofsky is one of my favourite directors, and together they made The Fountain, which I think was great even if it ended up a lot different from what Aronofsky originally envisaged.

My point: Wolverine 2 has the potential to be the greatest superhero movie of all time.

The most important cause ever (Star Wars related at least). Donate if you can afford to, they’re only halfway to their goal. Publicity for it has tapered off a bit, and with that the donations have slowed down. But for less than the price of mint double-telescoping 12-back Luke Skywalker, this incredible piece of movie history can be preserved for generations of fans to come. Please reblog this!

The original Lars homestead as it stands today in the Tunisia desert. If nobody intervenes, the structure will be destroyed by nature and lost forever. Luckily, a group of truly dedicated fans have started a website called savetheigloo.info. A complete restoration of it can be accomplished for a mere $10,000. They’ve already raised $900, and I myself just donated $5 this morning (measly I know, but it’s all I can afford for the time being). Please check out the site and consider donating. It’s always been a dream of mine to make it out to the Tunisia desert, and I will be truly devastated if the homestead is in ruins before I can make it. You can also join the group on facebook here.

Couldn’t Lucasfilm sort this out in a day? Sure, they won’t make any money off it (there’s not really a lucrative market for Star Wars tours of Tunisia), but they’d look like champs.

Let Me In review

Breathe a sigh of relief, internet. Let Me In, US director Matt Reeves’ version of critically-acclaimed Swedish film Let the Right One In is every bit as brilliant as its foreign cousin.

When it was announced in 2009 that Reeves, best known for the polarising monster hit Cloverfield, would direct a version of the film set in the US, there was an instant backlash on the net. The Swedish film had only just been released outside of its home country and to immediately start on an American version seemed to reinforce everything we hate about Hollywood – the strip mining of original ideas to deliver a dumbed down version for a more mainstream audience. But in moving the action to New Mexico, USA, and keeping the ’80s mid-winter setting, Reeves has delivered a movie every bit as violent, horrifying, moody, touching and emotional as the original.

This is a screenshot from Let The Right One In (Swedish vampire film about two 12 year olds) I freaking love this movie, and now america is making a shitty remake >_<
Swedish version preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZJUgsZ56vQ
American version preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjavOLdPk1c
Seriously, the american version is gonna be some shitty dramatic horror. Not to be an “ORIGINAL ONLY” hipster, but this movie isn’t a horror. It’s a love story. The american preview makes the think they’re trying to make another sexualized, kinda creepy child-based horror like the grudge. The preview of the swedish one is a little scary seeming with her little smile when he opens the door, but the vampire element itself isn’t the scary part. The filming style puts you on edge. The almost extreme LACK of hollywood-ism and epic music/dramatic shots makes the story seem so much more real and believable.
This movie is incredible and it’s one of my favourites. If the americans are remaking it because people can’t deal with swedish subtitles, it’s their loss >_<

WHY ARE THEY REMAKING IT GO DIE

Incorrect. The US version, Let Me In, from Matt Reeves (director of Cloverfield) is every bit as good as the Swedish version. Give it a chance.

There’s no way Aronofsky will end up making Wolverine 2, but I’m not against the idea. His name has been attached to projects like Robocop, so he’s not afraid to approach existing properties. He’s a visionary film-maker who has yet to put a foot wrong, so I say go for it.

However, I don’t think that’s the biggest news here. It’s also mentioned that Ben Affleck was offered the director’s chair on the new Christopher Nolan produced Superman, but he passed it up (Affleck has also played Superman. Well, he played actor George Reeves in Hollywoodland (2006). Reeves played Superman in the ’50s on TV). Now that they’ve gone with Zack Snyder, we can only imagine what an Affleck directed Supes could have been. I’m sure it would have been a world away from what Snyder will deliver.

Top 20 Lost Moments that made me Feel Feelings
#14. The Variable: “You knew this was gonna happen. You sent me here anyway.”

Daniel. Just what do you think you were doing. I just…WHY?
To me, this is the most shocking Lost death. I know I’ll get some grief for this, but this was sadder than Charlie and Juliet, whose deaths had been foreshadowed during most of the episode. But Daniel’s was sad because you really got the idea that it was a horrible mistake (even if it was predestined). It was just shocking. Not just because of the event itself, but the logistics of it. He got killed by his mother who was pregnant with him, after she sent him back in time (either to die or to correct the mistake.) It was basically the equivalent of ending with a punch in the face (especially after they got a few good hits in the rest of the episode.) Daniel’s story, like many, is just ridiculously tragic. I missed him a lot.

Agree with this 100 per cent.
Also, young Eloise was hot.

My buddy Aaron recently found this clipping at his grandpa’s house and sent me this picture. 2 for $5?!?! Reg. $3.29?!?! Man, those were the days.
Thanks again Aaron!

How much were the He-Man figures next to the SW? And I’m getting the impression it’s referring to Atari above that.
This is possibly the coolest catalogue ever.

The site Bleeding Cool is reporting that multiple sources have told them that actor Jamie Bell has been tapped to star in Sony’s reboot of Spider-Man, directed by Marc Webb. If you’ll recall, he was on the shortlist reported a couple weeks ago. (Along with Andrew Garfield; Alden Ehrenreich; Frank Dillane; and Josh Hutcherson.)

My least favourite choice from that shortlist. Hope this isn’t true. I thought they were skewing younger.
